The drain field is where the effluent from the septic tank percolates down through material and soil before making its way to the aquifer. Just like rainwater is filtered naturally through the earth’s different layers, septic effluent is filtered in the same way. This filtration process helps to clean and purify the wastewater before it re-enters the groundwater. However, this delicate process can easily be disrupted by a malfunctioning or improperly maintained drain field. Most of the time, drain fields fail due to improper care of the system, leading to unpleasant and costly issues.
Pumping your tank regularly (in our experience, every two years) is a crucial step in ensuring your septic system continues to function properly. This process helps prevent the buildup of solids in your tank, which, if left unchecked, can eventually move into the drain field lines. When these solids reach the drain field, they can cause clogs, leading to backups and severe strain on your system. In some cases, this damage is irreversible, resulting in the need for a completely new system, which can be a significant financial burden. Staying ahead with routine pumping and maintenance can save homeowners from expensive repairs down the line.
One of the best ways to maintain your drain field is to enlist the services of a professional. At Whitt's Septic Service, we offer a range of septic system solutions tailored to your needs. Whether your system is small and residential or designed for a large commercial building, our team can accommodate any size and style of drain field. By working with a professional, you can extend the life of your system and avoid unnecessary stress.
A well-functioning septic system, including a properly maintained drain field, is vital for protecting both your property and the environment. When septic systems fail, not only do they cause damage to your yard and home, but they can also lead to contamination of local water sources. This contamination can harm wildlife and disrupt ecosystems. Proper drain field maintenance helps to safeguard your investment and ensures that your septic system operates efficiently for years to come.

Our drainfield went bad and needed to be replaced. I had 4 estimates, 1 told me his pump truck was in the shop, 1 gave me a estimate over the phone, didn't even come out and check it, thats a no no. 1 lied to me. Then there is Whitt's, they matched the lowest price and Matt, Joel and Jennifer are fantastic. We watched how much water we used after the tank was pumped out. They started on Wednesday. Thursday the inspector came and she said that it was a beautiful job. That tells me they take pride in their work. Whitt's has my business. Thank you Matt, Joel and Jennifer. Your fantastic!!! Great job. Just can't say enough about this company.
